@leigha67 first let me say one thing about my research as it relates to eating healthy…I think sugar is BAD for anyone, especially any product with “added sugar.” I always read the labels when I am grocery shopping!

Here are some nutrition advice I got from Dr. Mussalem. Some of the info is in response to product questions I had for her. I hope this helps !

1. If I want a protein bar the only one she recommends is Well Bean. They are only available online direct from their company. ALSO Feel Vegan, Skout and Laird Superfood Protein Bars.
2. Recommends if I have to have coffee cream she recommends I try Soy milk. The name brands she likes is unsweetened West Life, Edensoy or Silk brand. OR OATLY !Super basic Oatmilk
3. Drinking coffee is great for me but either light or medium roast. the dark roast loses the benefit of drinking the coffee. Antioxidants?
4. Green Tea up to 3 cups a day but a quality brand, not from China.
5. In smoothies try putting some turmeric and/or ginger.
6. Protein shakes as much as possible using Truvani protein powder purchased online or Whole Foods.
7. Sweet potatoes are great especially the purple ones.
8. Eat lots of beans and plant based whole grains.
9. Sunbutter/organic peanut butter can be bought at Walmart or through Amazon. Buy the one with NO ADDED SUGAR.
10. Ezekiel Bread in the green package (Sesame) she even likes Raisen English Muffins they make.
11. The pasta brand she recommends is “Brami”available at Whole Foods and Walmart. I LOVE this pasta. But she says the whole wheat pasta I used to eat is acceptable.
12. She likes the Rao Marinara Sauce.
13. “Actual Veges” brand black bean burger available at Whole Foods.
14. She recommends getting frozen Organic fruits at Walmart or Target because they have great prices. I can try Trader Joe’s also.
15. She talked about one interesting book called “What Happens in the Last Hour.”
16. One cookbook she recommended was called “BE A Plant Based Woman Warrior.”
17. She ordered some additional bloodwork for vitamin deficiencies.
18. Supplements for me - Natures Bounty 1000mg Turmeric (Plus Black Pepper Extract), pure O.N.E multivitamin and an Algae based Omega 3 plant based.
19. Eat plenty fresh fruits and veges.
20. She recommends the following olive oils.

OLIVE OIL
- [ ] Mild EVOO: California Olive Ranch 100% California Extra Virgin Olive OilThis extra virgin olive oil is sourced entirely from California. It has a moderate level of polyphenols (182 mg/kg).The aroma and flavor are mostly of ripe olive fruit, with descriptors like “ripe banana” and “nutty with a hint of ripe apple.”Cost: 40 cents per tablespoon ($13.49 per 16.9 fl oz bottle).
- [ ] High-Polyphenols: Lucini Italia Organic Extra Virgin Olive OilIf you’re looking for higher polyphenols (299 mg/kg) with a bit more pungency and bitterness, this olive oil fits the bill. It has an aroma and flavor primarily derived from green olive fruit.Price: 61 cents per tablespoon ($20.61 per 16.9 fl oz bottle). Note: Lucini Italia is the only “organic” olive oil approved in taste testing; others were rated as “Uncertain.”
- [ ] Very High-Polyphenols: Life Extension California Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil While a bit pricey at 81 cents per tablespoon, this olive oil boasts very high polyphenols.
