Just joined this group. Robotic prostratectomy Jan16 catheter for two weeks and just 2 and 1/2weeks from catheter removal. I have read all the posts and really appreciate the information. I understand we are all different and that this is more of a marathon than sprint. However, i do not want to waste any time doing things incorrectly. I found a specialist PT that is helping me with Kegels. I am 71, the catheter was in a bit longer than many. I notice some improvement in the mornings like a few reported on this site. However, the nights seem to be the worse which seems at odds with others experience.
Any tips to get through the night better? I end up getting up every two hours to either change and/or urinate and dry up. I also end up getting about 4-5 hours sleep due to all of this.
suggestions (besides waiting this out)??

thanks

My pelvic floor PT specialist said that nighttime incontinence is the most difficult to deal with. Things that helped me were limiting liquid intake after 8 p.m. and getting up to urinate one last time before turning out the light before sleep. You might also try setting an alarm for 1.5 hours after you go to sleep. Your sleep would be disrupted, but at least you wouldn’t be dealing with the mess, and maybe you could fall back asleep faster. Be patient. It took me about 3 months after catheter removal before I felt comfortable not wearing protective underwear to bed, and I would still wear it if I was very tired and felt I might sleep through the urge to urinate. Good luck!
