Cacitriol and Fosamax

I am going off Forteo in March. I have been taking it since July 2022. I am starting Fosamax and Cacitriol. My one remaining parathyroid gland is failing. Has anyone else taken this combination?

We have 4 parathyroid glands in our neck area -
sorry to hear that your one remaining parathyroid is 'failing' .

I assume the Fosomax is for 'locking' in the gains.

A simplified explanation of Calcitriol is that it increases calcium absorption,
much more and stronger than Vitamin D.

Taking Calcitriol - after finishing Forteo - is this something new or rarely done?
Please tell us more.
How is it taken: injection or pill form. How is the dosage decided on.
Is it your endo or osteoporosis specialist recommending this.

Calcitonin treats hypercalcemia.
Some parathyroid disorders can lead to abnormal levels of
calcium in the blood that can cause brittle bones and other problems.

Calcitriol and Calcitonin sound so much alike, but are different.

Very happy for you that you have completed Forteo
and hope that you have good results.

I have been taking calcitriol daily for years. I have been on fosamax on and off for years and have taken Raloxifene Evenity and now back on fosamax. I have not had any issues but fortunately am in pretty good health. Hope it goes well for you

I lost one parathyroid during thyroid surgery years ago and was on calcitriol for years will taking fosamax. Based on my Vit D level, it took a few years to get the right dose. Too much gave me a headache.

I have been taking calcitriol daily for years. I have been on fosamax on and off for years and have taken Raloxifene Evenity and now back on fosamax. I have not had any issues but fortunately am in pretty good health. Hope it goes well for you

I lost one parathyroid during thyroid surgery years ago and was on calcitriol for years will taking fosamax. Based on my Vit D level, it took a few years to get the right dose. Too much gave me a headache.

Glad! With the fosamax I always take 1.5 - 2 times the water and wait longer 60-90 minutes before eating or drinking anything else. Don't know how necessary but it works for me to be extra careful.
