← Return to Anastrozole...has anyone had an increase in glucose or cholesterol

@janey42

I had a lumpectomy 5/24, radiation therapy for 1 week, and I am now on anastrozole for the past seven months. My glucose numbers are steadily increasing...cholesterol as well. I am 82 yrs. old and weigh 130 lbs. I teach fitness classes 8 hours weekly. So I get regular cardio and mind/body exercise on a daily basis. I was already on b/p meds, and statins. Increasing those have only led to light-headedness, with no decrease in b/p or cholesterol. Diet changes have only reduced my sodium levels, but have had no effect on the glucose/cholesterol measurements. It's very frustrating to know I am eating reasonably healthy, taking the proper meds, and still not reducing those critical measurements. Any suggestions?

Since I was much younger than you upon diagnosis, I am not sure the medication actions were the same but I did find this to be true while on anastrazole for 10 years and even after stopping it.
I have to watch my sugar intake carefully or my glucose test will come back high.
I also started having cholesterol issues, this has continued, with a maximized statin this stays under control but I hate the side effects of that too. Haha
I had a cardiac calcium CT to make sure that I wasn’t getting blocked arteries and it came back clear.
I had to pay cash for this test but it was worth the peace of mind for $180.
I can’t say for sure this is all from anastrazole but I was in my early 40’s and very, very thin and active at the time.
Have you talked to your doctor at all about this? Did you have high glucose or cholesterol prior to beginning therapy?

Yes mine up too
