Breast Radiation: I feel very tight in rib area, anyone else?

Posted by sharon44r @sharon44r, Nov 19, 2024

I’m on my 11 treatment of breast radiation and I feel very tight in rib area. Rib area feels sore under breast. Anyone else have that? I read radiation can cause rib fractures. I will tell my dr today. I think if my breast weren’t large and moving it might not hurt as much

I would say it started 6 weeks afterward and kept progressing for another six weeks. It became much worse. Unfortunately it took many weeks before I was able to schedule physical therapy. I had MRI actually and not CT. I also ended up with reflux. I think radiation oncologists should discuss all of the effects of radiation. The skin issues are real but not the only effects. Everyone seems to focus on the skin and not the other organs that might be affected. Although I tolerate the pain and aches, it does constantly remind me that I have breast cancer. I continue to be mobile and am grateful that I am still alive.

I agree with you . At the moment 2 months after radiation I am a bit sore where my incision was,, The incision seems to have almost burnt itself away.
With all I read on here I am so afraid of the fibrosis and trouble with ribs and my lungs.
So far I just get on and of stabbing pains once a few times a week and sometimes my rib is sensitive. Just praying it doesn’t bloom. Only thing my dr told me is about the soreness and possibly swelling in arm, I mentioned fibrosis to him and his nurse, and they told me I research too much. They told me the true beam is very precise, and it’s very rare to have others issues.
I believe every thing I read on this site. I’m thankful to come here and hear the truth. I’m sure people without issues don’t bother looking for these sites.
Good luck, and thank you for the response…. And 🙏🙏 for us all to feel better!

Hi all, I am considering starting on Palbociclib CDK 4/6 inhibitor together with an anti aromatise like Letrozol. What has anyone’s experience been with these drugs? I am concerened about my bones, jawbones and hair. How did you feel on these drugs and what positive effects did they have? Did they shrink your cancer? Would be very grateful for your responses🙏

Thanks for your response 🙏 . I also have nerve damage, Ulna Nerve, causing numbness and loss of sensation in my hand , little and ring fingers.
I find it all very disappointing as I was told by radio onc. it is very precise and will only focus on the cancer in my skin and would not affect my lung. Also some of my nails,3, became “dead” flaking, buckling and breaking. They are now, nearly a year later almost back to normal.
I am very concerned about starting on AI as the side effects seem so bad. I think I am leaning towards Tamoxifen as they say it doesn’t affect osteoporosis??? So difficult to make these decisions. I also have a husband with dementia who is worse than no help😱. Sorry about the complaints, I am having a bad day! Wishing you all the best🙏🙏

Hi Sue417, I just want to check I understand you correctly. Your chiropractor healed your ulnar nerve damage with laser treatment?? How did your ulnar nerve damage affect you? It would be just wonderful if laser treatment is a solution 🙏😀

Hi
The nerve was severely damaged from Repetitive work keyboarding. I had to see a specialist upper limb clinic and They did injections but they didn't really do much. My chiropractor at the time was the only one with this certain laser It was approved by my specialist to do it. So I went twice a week. I had Severe pain constantly it was horrible , I wore an air cast. I did not think the pain would ever end but it did. That was 20 yrs ago
