Probably best to ask his doctor but for me it is necessary to clear my lungs of all the mucus that builds up. I do a morning treatment when I first get up. I do my evening treatment 2 hours before bedtime. I don’t cough when I sleep. I also use an airway clearance device similar to “Aerobika”. It’s a flutter valve that helps me cough up the mucus. I understand that the coughing is a nuisance and embarrassing. Oftentimes I have to leave the room, theatre or church service. People think I’m contagious when they hear the rattling in my lungs. I can’t help it and I’m sure your husband can’t either. My wife is pretty understanding and thankfully doesn’t get grossed out by all the hacking and coughing.
