I am taking 3 mg of Prednisone and have recently started taking Crestor. I am now experiencing pain in my knees and pain in my leg muscles. I am also experienced increased fatigue and headaches . Has anyone else experienced this? At first I thought it was a PMR flare but now think not.

Those are side effects of Statins. I have the same effects. I have tried every version of statins and within days become sick and muscle aches. Stop taking them for a week and find out. I have genetic cholesterol so I had to find something else that worked. The steroids increased my cholesterol making it even more important.

Thank you so much for your reply .
It is hard to figure out what pain is what! I am so frustrated with being in pain. I will try your suggestion.

Hello @salmountain,

I moved your discussion and combined it with an existing discussion titled:

@alissahe and @tuckerp shared their experiences with muscle and joint pain on PMR meds and may be able to relate to what you are experiencing.

I’ve been on Crestor for a few years with no issues, some of my friends had issues like yours and switched. Contact your dr’s office tell them of your issues and ask doctor if you could stop for a few weeks and see if the knee and leg pain goes away.

Good idea to hold statin for a time. I do suggest CoQ10 with
them but evidence is not strong that it will help.
You could try another statin if Crestor seems to be the cause. We do need help for our increased risk factor of
systemic inflammation contributing to cardiovascular events.
Statins are anti inflammatory as well as lowering bad cholesterol so worth the try. CoQ10 has many positive benefits in itself so stay with that and Mediterranean eating
habits. Watch numbers for your hs-CRP, A1c and vitamin D.
