I know a few people that have used the gel spacer, it can prevent damage to the rectum. Some radiation oncologist refused to let their patient use them. In cases where the cancer is close to where the gel spacer would be, they sometimes don’t like it used.

Just some things to think about.

I’m 77, had 7 weeks of radiation 11 years ago and the only side effect is a little bit of incontinence starting about five years after it was done. I did have surgery 4 years before radiation. I hit the gym 3 days a week and walk a track every day, you have to stay active.
