After surgery, I have been on metoprolol. I take the lowest dose prescribed morning and night due to heart rate issues (12.5 mg 2x day). I am also on olmasartin 20mg per day to maintain blood pressure. Metoprolol has other benefits that no other bp med has. It is general prescribed to people that have had heart attacks, aortic root surgery, bypass surgery etc.
