Tymlos injection question
I am about a month into my Tymlos opportunity. I notice that sometimes (not always) I have a droplet of medicine adhering to the tip of the needle when I remove it from my stomach. I do wait until the count of 30 before removing it….Is this common? I do not want to waste a drop of this stuff! I do stand up to inject, as I feel uncomfortable with idea of doing it laying down—but will try if this is the answer? Thanks!

I have not had any side effects, but some people here have. Plenty of discussions about it. Most people do ok, but some have side effects ranging from very mild to worse. By "worse", I don't mean something that is critical and will land you in the emergency room! More like soreness and discomfort.
That said, don't be afraid. First, the medicine only lasts for a few hours. It's not like you are taking an infusion that will affect you for months and there's no going back.
Second, if you do have side effects, they are often mild and go away within a short time.
Third, some people fiddle with the dose. If they can't tolerate the full dose, the Tymlos pen allows you to "click" up to the dose you want. Some have reported better results with a lesser dose. Others start low and gradually increase it according to comfort level.
I was a little apprehensive at first, too, but I've now been doing it for nearly a year and it's like brushing my teeth. I even brought it with me on vacation last summer. It has helped me tremendously.
I was told by Tymlos not to inject the same site for 2 wks-she said I can do an upper line straight across from the belly bottom for 1 wk and then go lower on the abdomen the next week. I always have a drop coming out after injection too. Gives me comfort knowing the rest must have gone into my body.
I always see a drop On the needle after injecting. I was never told about counting to 30. When do you do that? If you call Tymlos, they will give you a nurse that would be assigned to your case or you can ask all the questions you want. It’s very helpful.
I've always counted to ten.
I am so grateful for your response. What will you take after Tymlos?
I don't know yet what will come after Tymlos. I have another year (maybe.) My last DEXA was very good (-2.0, improvement from -3.0); that's in the osteopenia zone. I'm not sure I need another bone builder medication.
There are plenty of discussions here with people who still need more bone and are taking Evenity or Prolia, so you should look into those if that is something you'll need.
My doctor discussed Fosamax or Reclast. I am leaning toward Fosamax as I'm not exactly crazy about the idea of an infusion.. but I've got plenty of time to research it.
Thank you. 1) How long after starting Tymlos did you get the Dexa Scan that showed improvement? And 2) Did you have any adverse side effects from Tymlos?
Normally they do a DEXA scan after a year. That's what I did.
I never had any side effects, but if you search this board, you'll find people who did. Most people do fine, but there's always a percentage that don't.
