Best excercise to combat ADT therapy side effects?
it looks like walking is the winner with emphasis on some type of weight training. it also seems to align with just about anything that gets us out of the chair, couch or bed.
i am on day 1 of my journey. i want to fight pc the entire way.

I am 74. Started abiraterone last April, 1000mg daily, and Eligard injection every 6 months. Gained a few pounds, but noticeable increase in belly fat. Had to go up one size in pants, and even that is tight. Hoping this goes away at the end of treatment. Walking 3 miles a day. Before this started, I was on rowing machine 30-45 minutes a day, but I don’t have the stamina for that now. Have to find a way to work back into it.
I can walk 3 miles no problem, but when I climb 2 or 3 steps or bend over, I get vertigo and serious fatigue. Can’t figure that out.
For me, workout in the am, after that it’s too too tired for me everyday. Ok
I was like @ecurb , I worked out first thing everyday. Hi rep light weight workouts followed by a run of a couple miles on a treadmill. A salad for lunch then an hour in the recliner was pretty much mandatory.
If I didn't get the workout in during the morning hours, just couldn't bring myself to do so in the afternoon.
I just finished 25 sessions of radiation. I'm on hormone therapy and will shortly have 'seeds' implant. Sometimes the fatigue is a bit strong to the point I wonder if it's depression, a condition that would be foreign to me. I think to myself, being tired is not due to lack of sleep nor sickness. So I fight it. My best experience is daily treadmill or weights. I'm 78. Add the exercises to a room or space cooled with AC (I live in FL). The exercise and the AC do the job. They help me snap out of it. Peace and health all round!
I have a question on the other side of this discussion.. I recently got diagnosed and quickly lost some weight due to stress, the cold that’s going around etc. does anyone have suggestions on protein shakes or similar things. My appetite has been reduced but I feel drinking calories might help.
Sorry about your diagnosis…Protein shakes are great but try to minimize the sugar content. But be careful of “sugar free” shakes because many -or all - contain sugar alcohols and other substances which cause gas - a definite NO NO if any radiation is involved in your treatment.
Check out the Ensure choices first but if no luck you can buy your own whey powder or a plant based alternative and blend it into fat free or lowfat milk. They are finding that a little sugar - probably 5 gms or less - is way better than any of the zero calorie substitutes. Best of luck!

Well, most anything will do as long as you are consistent.
Resistance training
Cardio - biking, running, walking, elliptical, jumping rope
Outside - hiking, skiing
Other activities
I think the key is find something you like to do. I hate running but I love riding my bike.
Others may enjoy Yoga, Pilates or other organized workouts, not my thing.
Weather permitting, I ride my bike outside, 30-50 miles.
Other days I go to the gym, ride the indoor bike, lift weights, swim
Vacations are active ones, last trip was to Glacier National Park, Waterton and Banff.
This year we're going to Sedona and Lake Tahoe, one or two more after that.
Yard work counts, walking the dog, vacuuming...
Mix it up, find what you like.

I'm 73 and a year and six months on ADT. About for months ago I had a rapid decrease in my leg strength. I've always been active but at that point I committed to more regular gym time, yoga once or twice a week and spin class once a week. The dedication is paying off with noticeable strength and endurance gains. You can't let up. It has become a part of your daily lifestyle
I can relate to loss of leg strength after 25 months of ADT. The steps in my tri level house have become difficult to climb. Treadmill is fine for me.
I drink a meal or 2 almost every day (primarily to try and control weight).
Almond milk, unsweetened vanilla, 30 cal + Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey.
