How quickly should I have radical surgery after my PSMA scan

Posted by TM91 @tmestanas91, Feb 10 6:18pm

I had my PSMA scan today which showed no spread. My urologist is suggesting I get the surgery which I want asap but as you know scheduling is always an issue.. just trying to get a sense of urgency.. also I would like to use Mayo in Jax. If you have any suggestions please share.

Did your Urologist suggest surgery because that is their specialty or did they give you multiple choices such as Radiation, surgery and androgen deprivation therapy? It’s important to understand the differences and the choices that you have before you make your choice so that you are completely, as best as one can be, comfortable with your decision.

Don’t be so urgent - prostate cancer is not like a blood clot that suddenly just breaks off and starts traveling.
A clear PSMA, while good, is no guarantee that microscopic areas are not present outside the prostate, which would render surgery non-curative.
The posts made by jeffmarc and ben are very important as they highlight other risk factors to consider as well as other treatment choices to be made.
You are new to this forum but there is a clear mantra here: Do NOT rush into anything!!! Best

If everything is inside prostate about the best option is Tulsa Pro. Tulsa can be a very small amount ablated up to 100% of the interior of the prostate.
