Are you saying that an oncologist is advising you regarding osteoporosis and hormone replacement?

You are right that you won’t die directly from osteoporosis but the mortality rate after a hip fracture is about 20-30% within the next year from complications (surgical infection, pneumonia, blot clots, etc. I have know folks to die directly from the hip fracture who have bled out because they we unable to get help after a hip fracture or from a fat embolism.
So there are good reasons to try and treat the osteoporosis.
