Leg-Foot Cramps with Lyrica?

Posted by ktpatton @ktpatton, Jan 23, 2023

I am hoping that someone with similar symptoms could share any advice on lessening the specific pain that I experience. After an EMG test I was diagnosed with moderate neuropathy and mild radiculopathy. It seems to be confined mostly to my feet, where I have a combination of numbness (feeling cold when they are not cold), stinging or burning, soreness, and occasional jolts that are like an electrical shock. Often it is concentrated in my toes, but also affects my whole feet. Occasionally one of my feet seems to "cramp" up. Uric acid tests rule out gout. I have tried various medicines, both prescription and over-the-counter (Gabapentin, Lyrica, Motrin, Meloxicam, etc.) I have soaked my feet in warm water, with and without Epsom salts, tried massaging them, and elevating them. If you have similar symptoms, do you have any suggestions that helped you? Thank you.

Hi:

I had a RNY gastric bypass in 2001 and I have neuropathy terrible. I have similar symptoms that you have. Cold feet, numb toes, sore bottom of feet. I don't know if you have this, but I can't wear socks, I feel I am already wearing socks. I have tried many things. Even sticking my feet in the shower with hot water running over my feet as hot as I can stand it. That did help. What I have found to be really helpful to me is Dr. Teals lotion with epson salts. I can rub this on my feet and it really helps a lot. Hope this helps.

I had a Roux en Y gastric bypass 25 years ago. I lost over 100 lbs, but have gained about 50 back over the years. Neuropathy started soon after, I have been on Vitamin B12 shots monthly since then. I have similar symptoms as you at 85 years of age. ai saw a neurologist who said there is nothing new for my condition, Mine is not due to diabetes, but my A1C is around 6.2. I have struggled with weight issues my entire life. I am considering a weight loss injection of tirzepatide, but fear any new drug will exacerbate my neuropathy further.
