Your bone hook is a bone spur or osteophyte. This bone growth is due to pressure between vertebrae end plates and usually caused by degenerated discs. Depending on where the bone growth is, you may need surgery in the future if symptoms worsen beyond pain. I had to have cervical spine surgery to remove a bone growth compressing my spinal cord/nerve roots at C5-C6. I have new bone growths that will need to be removed when I have my C6-C7 decompressed and fused due to herniated disc pressing on my spinal cord and nerve roots causing radiculopathy.
