Breast Radiation: I feel very tight in rib area, anyone else?
I’m on my 11 treatment of breast radiation and I feel very tight in rib area. Rib area feels sore under breast. Anyone else have that? I read radiation can cause rib fractures. I will tell my dr today. I think if my breast weren’t large and moving it might not hurt as much

Hi feprincess, you describe my symptoms from the radiation fibrosis really well, stretching, tightness, burning and pulling in the scar tissue. Unfortunately for me , physio doesn’t help and it makes me feel worse with the pain from the movement 😱. All the same , I do as much as I can to stop the arm and chest wall seize up all together. I wish you all the best. It is sometimes hard to keep the good spirits up!🙏🙏🙏
I hope you get the info you need as soon as possible! Wishing all the best for you.
But tamoflin does put estrogen in your uterus and for me that could be dangerous. Since it’s mainly for pre menopausal women now.
I am 75 had endometriosis and I am a DES daughter. I was told for me this risk might be worse than the benefit. Because I already had precancerous cells on cervix when I was younger cause by
meds my mom took to prevent misscarriages. I also have osteoarthritis vpcaused from long term prednisone.
Main risk for tamoxifen is uterine cancer and clots
You are in my prayers 🙏🙏🙏
thank you, i wish you well, she was seeimg her regular doctor for over two years with blood pressure sometimes hitting 220, he claimed she had hypertension for over a year and a half, even though she kept complaining about sore sides and breathlessness, weigh loss, she blamed him to his face that he robbed her of at least 30 years of her life, his excuse was that he forgot to check her calcium levels over the year or so, thanks for your kind words, her liver on arrival to hospital was severely swollen with calcium
How long after radiation did you feel horrible fibrosus pain?
It started 9 months after the radiation and now it is nearly a year ago and getting worse!😱
Thx for the reply! I am praying that doesn’t happen to me. I am almost 3 months after radiation, and hopefully getting better, only some stabbing pains once in a while,e and sometimes near rib🙄
I hope you get some relief. Soon. So sorry you are having these terrible issues. Ad enough we have to deal with the disease. 🙏
Yes, I will also pray it doesn’t happen to you or anyone else🙏🙏. I feel annoyed as I am worse off now than before the radiotherapy!!!
Take care and all my best wishes🤗
I would say it started 6 weeks afterward and kept progressing for another six weeks. It became much worse. Unfortunately it took many weeks before I was able to schedule physical therapy. I had MRI actually and not CT. I also ended up with reflux. I think radiation oncologists should discuss all of the effects of radiation. The skin issues are real but not the only effects. Everyone seems to focus on the skin and not the other organs that might be affected. Although I tolerate the pain and aches, it does constantly remind me that I have breast cancer. I continue to be mobile and am grateful that I am still alive.
