Hello, aaf
I got Hyperacusis more than 2 years ago following my Stapedectomy surgery. And it is not getting better in spite of all efforts of my brilliant doctors. So, I completely understand your worries ahead of the flight.
However, you can overcome your fear using a couple of things. I have very successfully used BEATS STUDIO OVER-EAR HEADPHONES for 6-hour flight. You can hear but sort of a "white noise".
Also, recently I got AIRPODS PRO-2, which can adjust the outside sounds down to Noise Cancellation (not complete though, but for about 80-85%), so you'll be very comfortable.
Hope it helps.
And I would appreciate it if you kindly share the information about a place where this terrible condition is treated. I have been consulted with very good specialists of Washington DC area, but with no any success.
I wish you very good luck with your treatment.
