What are your dexa scan scores? What are your specific concerns about osteoporosis meds? I think you will find a wealth of knowledge and information here.
Thank you for your answer. My score is -4.8 on the lumbar spine and around -2.8 in the femur. I think the medicines will be very detrimental to take for many years and apparently some even if with short term gains will be worsening situation long term . I am only 53, hence I did not want to start on this path today, but give it a try on being even more active and doing weights exercises .
I'm small as well. My doctor recommended ankle weights but let's just say I couldn't get the hang of using even light ones without pulling something. I started using a weighted vest about a month ago, but only for short periods of time on the treadmill. I read somewhere to be careful about bending or twisting while wearing one, if you have osteoporosis.
I too am short and weigh 104. I have used ankle weights and I plan to try wrist weights just to increase my body weight. Weight bearing exercises and using weights as well.
As well, I’ve read that the dexascan scores can be inaccurate and need to be repeated on the same machine at the same calibration for accuracy.
I also recently read about Bone Scorn which is supposedly a better measurement. If you Google it, you will find doctor offices that offer this by city and state. I plan to give a try.
