I am unsure if trust is the issue, the most up to date data is desired when diagnosing and just before surgery. There may be other tests that have not been performed on your home lab samples. Replication/verification of data results plays a huge role in accepting both scientific findings and your personal state of health, too.

You could have a blood test at home the day before you go up there and they would still re-do it. You can take CD copies of a 3 day old MRI, but they would still do another. But as long a insurance covers both it doesn't matter. There must be BILLIONS spent on duplicate services. It likely would be the same whether I was referred to Mayo or the Cleveland Clinic.
