@stans2000 My husband went for the TURBT on Jan 29th. He was told to not eat anything after midnight…but 2 hours before surgery drink Gatorade 16oz. It was a pretty easy surgery. The hardest part was holding in the blue dye for 45minutes …so that the Urologist could use the Blue light surgery. He got to Yale at 8:30 for prep. The nurse takes BP and all that. Then around noon he had the surgery. He didn’t feel a thing! Woke up and after eating English muffins with butter and drinking lots of water…we left. He had the foley cath in…the doc gave him 2 Tylenol with Percocet to kill any pain he might have just in the beginning with the catheter. But then the pain went away after the medication. He did vomit once…but that’s because he might have overdid it with the Percocet. The nurses are great and show you how the whole cath works before you leave. Very easy. Just drink the 2 liters of water a day…very important! My husband changed into baggy shorts… a t shirt with a robe…he wanted to keep the cath on his calf in place. You’ll see that it will all be over before you know it. Just rest the next couple of days. We got a call from the urologist surgeon 2 days later telling us the results…we also had looked on My Chart. God bless for a very good pathology report!
