Back Pain

From my experience, costly lower back injections provide only brief respite. But what after-effects do they leave?
My right lower leg and foot have remained numb for years, but the lower back pain persists. I manage on daily oral medication instead.

What about nerve ablations?

I‘ve had a few back in early 2000. They worked for a couple weeks the first time, then about a day or two the last time. I really thought i was going to get better. My mom had a couple and they seemed to be working fir her. I have Adhesive Arachnoiditis though so it’s not going to help me.

Except if you're a medicare patient it doesn't pay squat.

I'm starting to think that the real culprit for me might be needing a hip replacement.

Very interested. Why are you considering hip replacement? Symptoms, please>

Yes, I also had spinal surgery at the L4 L5. Everything was crushed and I was having severe nerve pain that would make the world go white and I would drop to the floor.

The surgery has gotten rid of the intense sudden pain, but I can actually feel the titanium moving on certain days and some days it’s just not worth fighting the pain so I

It’s important to understand when you get spinal surgery at least for me. There are two positions standing and walking for about 15 to 20 minutes or laying flat. There is no sitting in a chair.

I'm not considering hip replacement. I'm wondering if my lower back pain usually on the right side is really due to needing a hip replacement and everyone is missing it. Really no pain in the hip joint itself, but I do walk gimpy with that being due to my right leg and foot drop. This morning my right foot was as cold as ice, but the left was more normal. FWIW the CVI seems worse in my left leg than in the right. I will bring it up when I see the pain doc in a couple weeks.

Hey, thanks for responding. Sometimes it is so hard to figure out what is really wrong with us with back, hip, leg and what other symptoms we have. Good luck at the doctor's.
