Moving to a retirement home?

Having pics can definitely help! 😃 As it happens, I am now, at almost 78, the "matriarch" of the family - no relatives at all except my own children and grandchildren. Sooo... all the stuff from all the ancestors that they couldn't bear to have fall out of the family, funneled down to me. I have managed sell or give to thrift stores what I don't want and what none of my kids want. Years ago when my husband and I downsized, our kids appreciated having some of our furniture - and they have it to this day. But I told them not to have any regrets about disposing of/selling things that they don't find useful or are not their taste. No one should be put on a guilt trip over "stuff", no matter how it comes to them, be it as a gift or inheritance or whatever. Once they come into possession, it's theirs to do with as they wish. Like you said, it's a quality of present life that counts - and for me, that's relationships. 😍

Very good point! Don’t stress others either. I had to watch that. But the idea that these things go to a new life somewhere and might be cherished- helps! DO hang onto a few things to just hug! Feels good! And makes room in heart and life for new/different things!
