Does anyone have chronic diarrhea?

Hello, I have the same chronic dirreah. It's been a problem for about five years. I've had two colonoscopys recently. Nothing the doctor could find that caused my symptoms. Now they call it IBS D. Currently they are giving me dicyclomine, diphenox/atrop, promethazine and loperamide hydrochloride for my symptoms . My doctor ordered every diagnostic procedure to determine the cause of my chronic diarrhea.
He could not locate the cause.
I'm sure I'm not alone in this
problem.
My doctor wants to do a second colonoscopy to see if he missed anything. My insurance will not cover a second colonoscopy.
This issue has made me a hermit. I do not go out of my house to anything but doctor appointments . Anyone have insights to this?

So I have dealt with this but I found the trigger. I have celiac disease plus I am lactose intolerant. So no wheat no dairy I am good to go. Food logs are helpful for some. What you eat when you eat. IBS is a phrase that has many meanings but little insight to why. From caffeine to stress. I have always looked at diarrhea as a way your body is projecting something out ASAP. You don’t describe cramps or stomach aches. Nausea is another biggie. I used to schedule all my appointments in the morning. Did not eat or drink till I got home. Then eat. Sorry your going thru this.

Thank you for replying! Did he suggest you follow a FODMAP plan?

I’m so sorry you’re going thru this. Did he check for cdiff or Sibo along with celiac and dairy intolerances? If there is a Wellness Way or other integrated medicine clinic near you I would perhaps consider one of those. They will do stool sample studies and other tests to look for a variety of potential causes. They found mycotoxins in mine including mold and sure enough we located black mold hiding in the corners of the basement. From there they put together a supplement plan to try and help improve the good bacteria in my colon. You can also check out Thorne’s website and Genova diagnostics. You can purchase your own stool kits to check for food sensitivities, parasites, mycotoxins, etc. Infectious Disease in your clinic may be another option. I’ve been battling cdiff for seven months stuck close to home with chronic diarrhea and can relate. Good luck I pray you find answers and relief.

To me diarrhea is a mostly liquid discharge. I don't have that .What I do have is excessive bowel movements, up to twenty or more a day. These have been since the reversal of my ostomy bag that I wore for about two months after colorectal cancer surgery on May 31 of 2024. Most if not all of my rectum was removed since that is where the cancer was.
My output is soft solid waste. I keep track of the number of bowel movements since I started have WAY two many. six to eight a day is normal, but my high so far is thirty. That was about three weeks ago, from 3 AM until 11 PM that night, about 20 hours. Currently I've had 19 yesterday, Wed Feb 12 and another 26 so far today (it's currently about 9:30 PM), Thursday Feb. 13. I have doubled up tonight on my immodium anti-diarrheal Hoping it doesn't cause unforseen problems. I have had enough of this nonsense and realize there are NO support groups for this! I feel like I'm the only one in Denver Co. so affected, and probably am.

Best of luck to you,
JIM in Denver
