Dr has ordered Xifaxan. Around $560 for a 14 supply on my prescription drug plan.

Hi,
I keep 2 courses of Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice a day and Metronidazole 200mg three times a day, both for two weeks. The second course is in the event the first dosen't do the job completely. If that fails I'm into the expensive stuff, luckily so far it is doing what is needed. Fortunately it is free for me. To be honest it doesn't matter what the cost might be as long as it works, SIBO is not something I wish to prolong after having some bad initial weeks until discovery. I ended up stopping eating to aleviate the pain and severe cramps in the abdominal region, mostly the right side. My digestive system is compromised with Autonomic polyneuropathy and IBS, but SIBO is many times worse to put up with. I tried alternative measures a few times but found medication is the only way to kill off the SIBO completely. I don't like taking medication normally but with SIBO it doesn't pay to fool around at your own expence.
Cheers

They say that Jardiance and all those other diabetic and weight loss shots cause gastroparesis, and gastroparesis, which is slowed digestion, is when people usually get SIBO because the bacteria that remained in the intestines now gets up into the actual stomach where all the undigested food remains. Look up gastroparesis, and may I also suggest the site, "Healthy Gut," it's written by a doctor and a scientist and I'm here to tell you I was shocked to learn that what I had been doing for years was the wrong way to treat gastroparesis. There's lots of information there and products that can help. I am using HCL Guard, which increases the acid in the gut to digest the food and it can get rid of SIBO by putting the acid back in the stomach that digests the foods we eat. Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic have a lot of research on gastroparesis. Read the information and see what you think, and then read the Healthy Gut site and look at all the reviews on the products. I can't use but one HCL Guard every couple of days but it has certainly helped just being able to do that. And no more constant belching and hiccups just sitting or as I wake up in the morning. I burp after eating or drinking, but that's the end of it. It isn't constand belching and hiccups for no reason, other then SIBO.
