aspergillus fumigatus and scedosporium apiospermun- did you have it

I had aspergillus fumigatus in May and JUne 2024 then it was gone until today when my January fungal culture returned from NJH: aspergillus fumigatus and additionally a new one ascedosporium apiospermum. Has anybody had it and was it treated. I was not treated for aspergillus because I had no symptoms. Recently I have been short of breath and having tight chest- could aspergillus and/or apiospermum cause this? If you had aspergillus was it treated right away and how? I am at the end of the MAC treatment and now this. I emailed my doctor at NJH but its not clear when he responds, my local pulmonologist thinks my symptoms are my asthma. What a complicated life its is. Not a moment to breath without worry.

I have had aspergillosis off and on for years. They have never treated. Not sure if that is why I sometimes feel weak and why I have unexplained sweats for no reason.

I had aspergillosis fumagatos after MAC and was on Vfend for ever. Aspergillosis is bad stuff. In my opinion you needed to be treated . The way I look at things like that is if there is something in me that shouldn’t be there let’s get rid of it before it has a chance to do serious damage. I know nothing about that other one. So very sorry. Irene5

Hi! Wondering how long you took Vfend and if it eventually cleared the aspergillosis fumigatus? Any side effects while on Vfend?

I had apergillosis back in the summer of 2023. My pulmonologist sent me to an infectious disease doctor. She put me on a prescription that required many trips for blood work. It caused very temporary color blindness and I could only be on it for a limited time. It did take away the apergillosis, but I often wonder if I have it again. I garden for a living and I live next to Lake Michigan. Unfortunately, I have an extremely difficult time getting a sputum sample to be tested. I also have had MAC and have bronchiectasis. Along with asthma. Ahh, life.

I wonder how did you know you had aspergillosis. What symptoms did you have that you were treated.
