Anyone experienced stomach pains with your ostomy?

Yes I have pain on my right side. I had it checked a while back and they said I did not have a hernia and in time it would heal but im 1 year out and still have it. I have a referral to a gastro dr to see what isoing on

Bill addressed his issue with the appointment with his GI doctor who said the pain was coming from the abdominal wall. The pain from the operation should go away but don't know the duration. I guess one of these days you'll notice that the pain is no longer there.

@nnai, did you recently get an ostomy? Have the stomach pains subsided or gone away? Did you talk to your ostomy nurse about it?

I dont have a stoma nurse Dont see any in my area I have an appointment with a gasto on the 6th of Feb and hopefully she can point me in right direction My surgery was in Nov of 2024 I was also told pain was from adominal wall and all the muscle they cut through and it would eventually get better I am almost 86 and Ido heal slow and bruise easily

My husband (82) had this surgery 8/6 and the GI doctor said the pain in the abdomen wall will eventually go away but he did not say when. I guess everyone's case is different. It's been 5 months and the pain is still there. Not an easy operation for people in their 80's. Keep us posted.

@pez01, did you find out more at your recent appointment? How are you doing?

no actually I was a little disappointed She is having me add back fiber and drink lactose free milk in coffee She wants another cat scan but im going to try diet first I have an appt in March with my gp and Ill get her opinion I did try the skin tac and I have not had major leakage in two weeks She did tell me to take beano when I added some gassy foods back
