New Blood Test Detects 50 Types of Cancer at an Early Stage
https://grail.com/our-products/
Three days ago my GP recommended the Galleri blood test which one pays for out of pocket. She told me that it picks up the “shedding” from cancer cells in the blood stream and does so before a PSMA Pet scan can do it. By happenstance, two days ago in the Wall Street Journal, there was an article on this test. Today I spoke with a friend who had spoken with the CEO who told him there are still too many false positives and negatives. This is worth monitoring and could be a huge breakthrough for early detection. Has anybody had the Galleri test?

I got the 4K too during diagnosis.
From what I've read it gives many false readings. Seems to need some refining. For prostate cancer the 4k Blood Score test is a pretty good predictor of ruling in or out high grade Prostate cancer. I had it and sadly it was accurate. G9 Gr 5
Mel, so shouldn’t a 4K score of 26 be more aggressive than 9? That’s my point: mine was MORE aggressive and widespread with a LOWER score….doesn’t make sense.
In fact, my GP discouraged me from seeing a Urologist because the 4K was only 9 -and 7.5 or less is considered normal.
2016 when done Believe my score was near 100 They rushed my robotic surgery which was stopped as C was close to apex of bladder and would have made me incontinent
In 2017 I had 39 radiations at CVH in Mississauga In 2020 had L 2 radiated 3 cm out Then the journey of Xtandi, Radium 223. 2 Chemo, and now Abiraterone with soon LU 177 after this weeks PSMA PET scan
Praise God 8+ years C still in T 10 and L1 PSA 80 though Zolodex for 86 years
Whoa…that’s some hard grind you’ve been through, Mel. I guess even the 4K score COULDN’T have missed it!
The Lord has been at my side the entire 8 years 2016 to 2025
Worst time was when 2nd chemo caused fluid in lungs and I was on Oxygen for 3 months and still on Prednisone as with Abiraterone
If I get LU 177 I look to a better OS Overall Survival
Do you guy's know what the outcome can be for those it works for?
Running out of options Yet C remains in T 10 and L1 only so no spread
Hey Mel, jeffmarc has commented often about Lu177 - Pluvicto - working great in one third of cases, OK in a third and not at all in the other third.
I guess pray that you’re in the first group.
Yes want first group status
Nut how long is OS Overall Survival in that group
Anyone have knowledge or links
@juy77, according to their website, the Galleri test screens for a signal shared by 50+ types of cancer, including some types of sarcoma Here is the list https://www.galleri.com/what-is-galleri/types-of-cancer-detected#block-glossary-45819
Thank you,
I will speak with my oncologist about this when I see her in September.
Very interesting!
