Marijuana and Neuropathy

My husband has terrible neuropathy in his feet although the pain management doctor calls it radiculopathy as a result of failed spine surgery. Whatever it’s called, the pain is the same. He has tried medical marijuana, but all it did was make him sleepy in addition to the medicines he is on. The only time his feet don’t burn is when he goes to bed. Has anyone used a kind of marijuana that helps the pain but does not make you drowsy?

If your husband has not been tested he needs to see a neuromuscular neurologist. He needs to have an emg/nerve conduction test along with biopsy for small fiber neuropathy. It’s hard to get treatment without the right diagnosis. Mine started in 1999 and the neurologist finally tested me in 2002 after my bacterial spinal meningitis. Mine is autoimmune and test positive for all forms. Severe axonal sensorimotor peripheral polyneuropathy, small fiber neuropathy, cardiac autonomic neuropathy it affects your heart rate and blood pressure, dysautonomia. The motor neuropathy causes tremors and I can’t hold a glass or eat I drop the fork. I do not feel from my feet to my knees and my elbows to my hands totally numb. I now drag my feet and legs.
