Side Effects of Shingles Vaccine
I got the flu shot and the new shingles vaccination 3 days ago. Today I started feeling sick to my stomach. I've never had a reaction to the flu shot and was wondering if anyone else felt sick after getting the shingles vaccine?

Thanks for the update. You're right. Since you got the shingles vaccine and started taking Omeprazole within a couple of days of each other, it's hard to tell if one, or the other, or a combination of the two caused the rise in bp. In any case, I'm glad that you're on Amlodipine and your numbers are coming down now. In addition to checking with your PCP about what may have caused your bp to spike, you can check with your pharmacist. A pharmacist will usually know way more about drug side effects and interactions with other drugs than your PCP.
Also, it's always frustrating to me when it's apparent that you have an issue but diagnostic tests and labs show that everything is okay. Hope you can get some definitive answers soon.
So I got the 2nd shingles shot & tetanus shot in the same arm. Now for 20 days or more Im suffering from insomnia anxiety depression feet and hand are numb more sensitive to light & sound, the symptoms seem like what you get from shingles itself called Postherpetic neuralgia, which is damage to the nerves can even paralyze your lungs & kill you but usually this would occur in the 1st 2 weeks of vaccine , the chance is 3 in a million people the disorder is just like Guillain-Barré syndrome fortunately my digestive system started back working on thanksgiving day I feel a little better have been prescribed sleeping pills / anxiety pills & allergy, also contacted an attorney I will keep everyone posted
I'm male, 53 years old, my wife hand shingles so decided to get the shingles Vaccine in March 2024. My life changed 4 days later, it hit me like a ton of bricks, I could hardly walk and had sever joint pain in my knees, shoulders, wrist and hips. I also feel like my eyes have sand in them most of the time. I could immediately tell my body was fighting something foreign. I WAS healthy and had no previous joint pain. It's December 2024 and I am still dealing with it; I am seeing a rheumatologist, and he is treating me with Prednisone. I never feel normal, have low energy and IF I do anything I pay for it over the next few days. Does anyone know if this will go away or is this my new normal? A few people have mentioned Plasmapheresis, has anyone tried this, is this an option? I'm frustrated and looking for answers!
Similar experience as well. Had the shot at 6 pm Friday and Saturday morning felt pretty bad with chills and aches but went for regular 25 mile mountain bike ride anyway thinking I might shake it off. Felt fortunate not to have crashed. Hot bath after. Flu like symptoms continued Saturday and took two advil at 10:30pm and 5 mil of melatonin. Slept with some mild sweets. Woke Sunday feeeling considerably better.
Just had my 2nd shot yesterday and have very uncomfortable chest pains and some issues breathing. Like someone is sitting on my chest. Also horrible joint pain, which I expected. Should I be concerned or will this pass?
@tinalee725 If you’re having chest pains and difficulty breathing, please call 911! This could be a serious reaction or possibly a heart attack. Do you have someone with you?
@tinalee725, Your symptoms yesterday were pretty unsettling, especially chest pains and difficulty breathing. I hope you went to an ER for evaluation. How are you feeling today? Has there been any improvement?
It subsided by the next day. I wish they would be more transparent with side effects. It's quite frightening, also it does worry me that I am doing more damage then good. Also, I was bullied by my GP to get the vaccine. I just hope it was worth it.
That’s so upsetting to experience vaccine side effects, especially when they are so severe. I do want to say that getting your 2nd shot of shingles vaccine is very important! I had shingles twice: the first one was before getting vaccinated and it was an awful experience that landed me in the hospital. The second was after being fully vaccinated and it was very mild.
I had typhoid vaccine last weekend and was feeling very dizzy on my second day. While it was unsettling to experience it, I am glad to now be protected for my upcoming trip to Egypt.
@alive, have a wonderful time on your trip to Egypt! I want to see some photos in this discussion: ☺️
