I was diagnosed in August 4.1 cm.
62 years old.
Ascending thoracic aortic aneurysm.
Non-smoker, non-drinker, no family history of it.
I don't match any of the probably leading causes.
Oh well, apparently these things can happen.
I wonder if having covid-19 or even just having had the covid-19 vaccination might have contributed?
Sonogram, CT scan, PET scan, and Echocardiogram.
Same I'm hoping it either grows slowly or preferably of course, doesn’t grow at all, so as to avoid surgery.
Haven't yet seen anything on diet, exercise or medicines that reduce the size.
So, it appears at this stage it's a wait and watch.
Congrats on such the long career as a nurse, undoubtedly you helped generations of people.
Dear James
I agree with Pegsterb! Covid has nothing to do with it!
1-If your blood pressure is high it’d help to keep it low as it may delay the aneurysms of your ascending aorta!
2-Avoid Heavy Lifting!
I’m questioning my decision every day if I had to go through this surgery. My complication is of course due to after care negligence. I have shortness of breath. I’ll be starting my cardiac rehab with the hope that my shortness of breath will be reduced by increasing my indurance
Check back with your cardiologist every 6 month or so & request echocardiogram
If the changes are minimal in my opinion stay away from surgery as surgery has its own complications!
The new recommended size in to consider operation of ascending aorta is 5cm to 5.5cm
It used to be 5cm
If your aortic valve is bicuspid instead tricuspid; I would keep my own bicuspid aortic valve..
It would be much more efficient than artificial value like cow valve. Artificial valves must be replaced by a new one every 10 years if not sooner
Good luck
Stay safe
