Knee replacement blues

Posted by sandrajanevb @sandrajanevb, Dec 29, 2024

I'm Australian but we have the same knees right ! I'm week 7 today, and I had a ' stumble ' a few weeks ago on a step out the back, my knee gave way and I pulled a muscle in my thigh .. I feel like my confidence has gone downhill now, I'm waiting for the day that I don't feel restricted with swelling .

Hi, The swelling can get so much better ! At 7 months post op from staged bilateral knee replacement. I have no further pain or swelling but some stiffness if I sit too long. The swelling takes time to decrease for some people, mine was not really noticeable at 3 months.

I am 3 months in and still have stiffness, no matter what I do. Stretching, exercising or walking, stiffness is there. I don't sleep very much. Constantly icing down.
I keep praying 🙏 at night that I will get up the next morning and not have as much stiffness.
This recovery has been brutally challenging.

Yep! As I commented on another reply, "just another little thing they don't tell you before they mess you up."

There's quite a bit they don't tell you about this recovery.
