Sory, may have given you the wrong impression...only on those 9-10 hour shift 1-2 days a week, and one day is about 5-6 hours. The problem is that they are consecutive days, Sun/Mon/Tues with the long on at the end of the rotation, so by Tuesday night I am pretty sore. My foot/ankle used to get sore, but not unbearably so, and a couple of ibuprofen would take most of the pain away, but now it is painful alol the time, even if I don't do any walking or standing....if I get up out of the chair and stand on the foot it hurts. Something has changed and made it worse, probably wore out something in the fusion or elsewhere. I was on my feet a lot this summer and fall and did a lot of climbing and lifting as I was building a log cabin, but I didn't do anything unusually difficult. I am hoping an x-ray might show something. My amkle and part way up my leg were really puffed up and swollen and a bit red colored last evening when I got home, but was back to normal in the am.

@eatnb1 You're building a log cabin? I would try to do that too. That sounds wonderful.

I'm glad that you are going to follow up with your doctor. Something that comes to my mind with leg swelling would be a possible blood clot. That can cause swelling and it can make the skin appear shiny looking because swelling stretches the skin. My mom had them and she is at increased risk because she doesn't walk and uses a wheelchair. A blood clot can be diagnosed with Doppler sonogram imaging.
