Ankle fusion and triple arthodesis?

I had ankle fusion in 2009 or 10, don't know for sure and my papers are in storage and can't be accessed for a few more months. I just started getting pain a few months ago and it is getting worse and worse to the point where it is making it impossible to walk or stand on that foot. I do volunteer work at a Church and am on my feet for 9-10 hours at a time with a fair bit of walking involved, and it is getting unbearable. I have an appointment next week to get a referal and an x-ray but not sure they can do anything about this. I also had a hip replacement on the same leg which was done around the same time. I broke this ankle in 1971 and it gave me pain everafter until I had the fusion done, now it is more painful than ever before. The doctors believed that limping on that foot for years caused the hip to prematurely wear out. I have orthotics inside all of my footware, which evens out my leg lengths, but not sure right now if they are doing any good. I never thought of a walking boot, but will mention that to the orthopedic doctor, if I get to see one.

@eatnb1 Wow, you are on your feet a lot! I can't be on my feet all day like that. Is there another way you can volunteer at the church without all the footwork? It's worth a try to see if that helps your pain. It might just be too much for you. Perhaps also less often? Can you volunteer while seated?
