Symptoms from radiation/chemo 4 endometrial cancer?
Ladies, if you could share your radiation & chemo symptoms and what you did to alleviate them? I’m getting ready for approx five weeks of these treatments for recurring endometrial cancer in upper right vaginal cuff. I’m nearly 5 years from endometrial cancer & complete hysterectomy. Recurrence discovered at physical exam in Sept 2024, followed by CT, Pet scan and biopsy. Pathology showed recurrence of same adenocarcinoma Figo 1, Grade 1 in vaginal cuff. Thank you for your support.

@smmc2025 I responded to you on another Discussion and would like to say again that I am grateful my recurrence was found and treated. I had the same diagnosis as you. The recurrence was found on physical exam in the vaginal cuff and pathology confirmed a recurrence of endometrial adenocarcinoma FIGO Grade 1. I then had a PET/MR which showed no evidence of disease anywhere else which was a huge relief. I had external beam and brachytherapy radiation therapy.
Here is a Discussion I started awhile back. You might like to read through this as it concerns radiation therapy and there were many responses to this Discussion.

When will your treatment begin and what will the sequence be?
I think the same thing is happening to me. It's been 6 years since my Ed operation. I had radiation treatment only and no chemo treatment. My radiation treatment lasted for about 4 weeks. It seems like fluid built up in my abdomen I had it removed and I'm waiting on results
Thank you so much for this reply. ❤️
I started photon external beam radiation on 1/23 for approx 30 sessions and my chemo/carboplaten starts today-1x week for 7 weeks. There is also talk of immunotherapy for approx one year after; still to be determined.
@smmc2025 This is a packed treatment schedule with External beam radiation starting just last week and chemo/carboplaten starting today.
Did your doctor or the nurse talk with you about side effects you might experience with radiation therapy and chemotherapy? I’m asking this because before I started radiation therapy both the doctor and the nurse spent a lot of time with me describing what would happen and what symptoms I might experience. I did not have chemotherapy. Everyone is different which means not everyone experiences the same symptoms from their treatment. If you are like me you don’t like “surprises” and it’s nice to know what to expect.
Have you already had the chemotherapy infusion today? How are you feeling?
Helen, thank you. I got through my Carboplatin treatment Tuesday without noticeable symptoms. The NP spent a great amount of time discussing potential side effects. So far, going very smoothly. Wednesday and Thursday-days 2-3 post chemo, involve taking a steroid which has made me feel energized. I’m watching and waiting for any side effects. I’ll go for weekly bloodwork to watch platelets and white blood cell counts. I truly hope that I continue to tolerate the RT and chemo well. I’m listening to other patients experiences and gleaning the helpful tips. Thanks for being here in this space. ❤️
Helen, since you are a couple years out from your RT and brachytherapy; I’d love to know how your check ups and journey is going now. Thank you, Susan
