How do I find an endocrinologist who truly understands Osteoporosis?

I live in NYC so I know I am lucky that there is a wealth of providers here. I just do not know how to find one that really knows how to treat Osteoporosis. I went to the one referred by my PCP but the care was very limited. She prescribed Reclast for three years and then said, yeah, that's it. My T-score is stable and she feels that is good enough. But I still have -2.9 in some areas. I am 5 years post-menopausal and my mom just died from Breast Cancer and I had Lymphoma and my dad died of Sarcoma so I was told HRT is not recommended.

Does anyone have an endocrinologist you would say is amazing at this? Expertise in treating Osteoporosis in NYC?

Thank you!
Alyssa

Hi, Alyssa. I recommend checking the major medical centers around you for bone centers - I believe Columbia has one.

Thanks very much. There are so many endocrinologists here, it's hard to tell which ones truly understand how to treat Osteoporosis and do a great job. I am hoping to find someone who has a recommendation to a specific doctor.

Much appreciated!
