I have had Migraines since I was 15 years old...that would be 41yrs. except for 1 year while taking Imitrex (in several different forms) then 1 year taking Zomig also in several different forms. At one point I had a stimulator implanted in the back of my head, when I would start having a headache I would activate it and would increase the stimulation. When that began to make my headaches worse I had it and the activator that was implanted in my chest and interfered with my yearly exam. After that the only thing that I found that helped was injections of Demerol & Phenergan up to 3x a month and that helped me for many years. I decided I would try Acupuncture that worked the first time the next 2x made it worse. Botox didn't work ever, it was painful and if I didn't have a headache when I got there I had one when I left. The Demerol/Phenergan was all that worked and then MAYO refused to give narcotics in the Clinic any more and I can't afford the ER co-pay so for 8 years I take Tramadol which gives me slight relief, heat, & Lorazepam and suffer some times for weeks at a time..

@lorilynn13 Totally relate to this as I’ve suffered migraines since teens. I’m 59 and the last ten years have been a blur due to chronic pain and med side effects. I now use Botox again and find it helps cut about 5 days a month of suffering. Imitrex, Fioricet, oxy are my go to’s now. I have tried practically everything out there and wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Constantly missing appts and gatherings due to the unpredictable nature of the illness. I can feel the doubt and disappointment from folks, as they think a migraine is just a headache 🙄 At least they are coming out with more and more treatments. My neurologist said not to worry, that we’d find relief this year. I’ve used MDs and pain clinics most of my life (59) and FINALLY feel hopeful again seeing a specialist in neurological disorders. Best to you ❤️
