Has anyone tried Botox for headaches?
Was Botox successful? My doctor wants me to try it again. It did not work 8 years ago. I worry about the toxicity and my glaucoma and macular degeneration. Eye doc says it's okay, but they aren't his eyes.

Yes, I know of someone who has used botox injections to stop getting migraine headaches. Has anyone tried botox to stop seizures not caused by epilepsy but. ptsd?
Botox had been a lifesaver for me but after doing them regularly for more than 6 years my headaches have come back and mine are severe. As in I was hospitalized 7 times at a world renowned headache clinic. Anyhow after that I found an incredibly kind physiatrist who specialized in pain management. I was on methadone for my pain while we initiated the Botox. It didn’t work right away, hence the methadone, but eventually I weaned myself off of the methadone. I was so proud of myself!😊. And Botox did its magic for many years.
Unfortunately that too seems to have worn off as the headaches started to reappear. I just recently received 2 nerve blocks and several trigger point injections after still having the Botox but on different days because they can not all be done at once. Thank you United Healthcare. Anyhow I did have one trip to the ER last week for my worst migraine ever. I wanted to die. But here I am a week later and I am headache free and therefore depression free. My prayers now are that this combination plus my scary combination of preventative drugs will last. I’ve been going through this for 45 years. My list of meds tried is a full page long ( single spaced) and my current meds take up another 3/4 of a page. All I can say is God help us all!!!
Holy cow! You have been through the ringer. I avoid pain killers 'cause of the constipation. My headache center will not give pain killers. They say it causes rebound headaches. You are right, God help us all 'cause the doctors sure are not!
Stop eating gluten. Botox never helped me but eliminating glucose from my diet stopped the headaches completely.
I did Botox 4 years ago! Did no good! WOULD NOT GO THROUGH IT AGAIN!

I have had Migraines since I was 15 years old...that would be 41yrs. except for 1 year while taking Imitrex (in several different forms) then 1 year taking Zomig also in several different forms. At one point I had a stimulator implanted in the back of my head, when I would start having a headache I would activate it and would increase the stimulation. When that began to make my headaches worse I had it and the activator that was implanted in my chest and interfered with my yearly exam. After that the only thing that I found that helped was injections of Demerol & Phenergan up to 3x a month and that helped me for many years. I decided I would try Acupuncture that worked the first time the next 2x made it worse. Botox didn't work ever, it was painful and if I didn't have a headache when I got there I had one when I left. The Demerol/Phenergan was all that worked and then MAYO refused to give narcotics in the Clinic any more and I can't afford the ER co-pay so for 8 years I take Tramadol which gives me slight relief, heat, & Lorazepam and suffer some times for weeks at a time..
I tried that years ago with no luck. How long do I have to stop gluten to know?
Amen to that!
Please, I have been on every elimination diet there is, gluten included. I had to be on these drugs called MAO Inhibitors (some very old antidepressants that have diet restrictions that are extremely restricted because certain foods react very badly to them, as in to cause a hypertensive crisis and death). That MAOI diet eliminated everything from chocolate, to cheese, nuts, processed meats and foods. The list of foods to avoid is daunting. It was also called a “tyramine free” diet. From my understanding tyramine is also produced when foods break down so leftovers were out of the question. I followed this extremely strict diet for several years and it did not make any difference in my migraines except to make me miserable. Have you been on a restrictive diet like this? I lost 100 lbs but still had the headaches. Please do not tell me it’s my diet.
I agree McGrath!
