I had cervical spine surgery June 2020 and after very long surgery my bowels never woke up. A year later I was scheduled for total colectomy because no med and no treatment worked. Fast forward to today. I take 20 Senakot at bedtime, suppository every am followed by an enema.
I also did pelvic floor PT done by a wonderful Indian woman. Her goal due to me never passing anything wider than a pencil was to keep my rectum from feeling like it was closing. She helped a lot and it was all internal. I followed that with visceral message at another facility which is very deep organ massage. Everything was temporary. Today all gastrointestinal docs are fine with my regimen. Yup, they honestly do. Sort of amazing. Not one prescription drug worked and I’m waiting for next to hit the market. Last one was IBSrella.
I have terrible degenerative s1 up to l5 disease with bulging and 3 months ago I fractured my sacrum after being jumped on by 2 dogs, it was an accident.
What baffles me is no gastrointestinal since tons of tests in 2920 and 2021 found a few problems like gastroparesis and no motility in large intestine and slow small intestine. Why don’t they do tests again in 2025. Why not look to see what it going on and what changes may be going on. I also have a tortuous colon and it’s a foot longer than the norm. They just allow my regimen and I still can go 2 weeks without going. The entire thing is just baffling. I moved from Boston area to Georgia and still no tests.

@mothermary1 you might mention this to your doctor I already had posted above you! Pelvic therapy helped but I’ve not had regular bowel movements for years my bowels might be soft and then 5 minutes later be firm . I had a permanent stimulator put in 2 weeks ago and since my bowels have been solid everyday. If I went to the bathroom then stood up to shave or brush my teeth and leaned a little over the sink I had to go again immediately. So from my opinion there’s a nerve pinching interfering with your bowels . Wish you the best of luck pain free
