Changed barrier design and now leaks. What can I do?
For years I have been using the Hollister 14903 barrier and pouch system for my colostomy. With my last shipment they changed the design but it is the same number. The new design just does not adhere to the stoma area the way the old one did and I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through that. Maybe try a Brava ring around the stoma first then the appliance. You could also try a very sticky adhesive called Skin Tac by Torbot. I use Skin Tac and Brava ring, and I’ve had great success. If you try the Skin Tac, try it on a small area of nearby skin first to make sure you don’t have an allergy to it.
I se the Skin Tac and it really is very sticky. The only drawback to the stuff is that if your skin has any problems, it will sting. I just ignore the stinging. i also use an Eakin ring which I trim substantially before using. It's really too big for me but I'm using up my supplies before switching to a less bulky ring. I also use Hollister extenders (3 each time) for extra hold and security. My flange and pouch are Coloplast.
Try calling Hollister and see what they suggest. They will probably send free samples to try.
Where do you buy Skin Tac?
You can get it at Amazon.
Thank you!
You’re very welcome!
I use my hair dryer (low setting) for a few seconds to make it more tacky and flexible. Keep it far enough away and briefly, don't melt it. Was told to rub it between my hands but never worked 💪
I can buy Skin Tac at my local pharmacy in a very small Ontario town.
Can you use stoma powder with skin tac
