Atrantil and megaspore biotics did the trick. Also get a squatty potty and use these two tricks. 1st, before and after the squatty potty cross your right leg over your left and put your elbow on your knee resting your hand under your chin. 2nd. When you go also mimic blowing bubbles. We tend to try and push and that actually stops the muscles from contracting. I learned most of these from a pelvic floor expert on an atrantil podcast.
Learn how to relax. It is something that can be learned, like learning to bake bread or change a flat tire. Also, hot liquids and some warm food before your normal elimination time. A stool softener is not dangerous for those time. A gentle stimulant is Colace 2-in-1. Regular Colace is just the stool softener component. I have a sensitive gut and these are my go-tos, as needed.
And if you normally tend toward constipation, consider a magnesium supplement at night (softens stool) It also helps with anxiety. Do your Google research to see what I mean about these two.
