Gleason 6 (3+3) treatments
Hi,
I had a biopsy and it came back with Gleason 6 (3+3). The urologist first told me it was extremely important that I have a biopsy done every 12 - 18 months to monitor this. 3 years later with no followups and now he's telling me we will just do MRI's instead (I also have ulcerative colitis so biopsy is extra painful). He also told me my cancer is nothing and don't worry about it. Problem is, he's told me a lot of things and then told me the exact opposite, so I'm not sure if I trust him.
Question for others with Gleason 6 ....... what type of treatment/monitoring are you being treated with?
Thanks
Joe

@joel I assume your MRI showed a PI RADS Score of 5 . Next , a 2nd Transperineal MRI Guided Biopsy . Get a 2nd or even a 3rd Opinion of your biopsy pathology results to confirm your Gleason Score . Then perhaps a Bone & CT Scan to check for metastasis .
For prostate confined , well differentiated tumors low & intermediate risk . A 5 course Mon-Wed-Fri and Mon -Wed the following week , Monotherapy SBRT is becoming a standart treatment . Consult with your Radiation Oncologist .
Have you read Dr. Patrick Walsh's book " Guide to Surviving Prostatee Cancer " A must read educational tool by the Worlds Leading Urologist on Prostate Cancer .
Good luck .

I am not a medical professional but I have read pathologist don't give an biopsy reading below 3+3=6.
What I read and poster post is usually this is active monitoring. Did he offer the Decipher test? It uses the same biopsies but gives a genetic test resuts. I really belive in them as my Gleason was 3+4=7 (the worst) and put me into intermediate risk. However the Decipher test came back low risk.
I read you do not feel comfortable with your present urologist and what he is telling you. I would get a second opinion in that case. You can get them from a major medical facility by medical informaiton sharing that only requires signature. They can give you a second opinion without seeing them in person. Of course the best way would to go in person (I did that for my second opinion) but would certainly help you with your miss-trust of your present doctor and what he/she is saying to you.
