I am so thankful to read that I am not the only that has endured this unique symptom. Thank you for posting about your journeys and helpful information. For me, in 2020, I had gone to my doctor for an increasing amount of numbness in my legs. It had started years prior in my left leg and then in 2020, my right. I have FSHD1 so I just assumed it was the muscular dystrophy progressing. But I had some other very strange nerve glitches through the years. I am a professional pianist and would be playing the piano and my arm and hand would literally turn off in the middle of a song and I could not move it for a few seconds. Long story short, my doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer and steroid. After taking the meds and sleeping, the next morning I woke up and I was vibrating from my waste down to my toes. Noise would echo through my body and if I moved or touched my leg, it was like a rubber band bouncing back and forth. At times, it felt like I had a lawnmower in me or that I was connect to an electrical socket. Certain kinds of music and noise made it worse. But as I was researching, I read a little more about sound frequencies and since I am a musician, began listening and playing music tuned to different healing frequencies and this would calm down the tremors. Then I learned about 'earthing" and anytime the vibrations would be terrible, I would go sit on the ground with my shoes off and walk around barefoot, and within 30 minutes, the tremors would become peaceful as if I was being tuned to a greater frequency. It was quite remarkable. I learned that exercise and walking even though I was hurting and weak and felt bruised to the touch, I had to make myself walk with hiking sticks to avoid atrophy. I read more about MS and put myself on a protocol of eating a lot of raw produce and lean protein to see if it would help. Overall, I have found a lot of benefit from eating healthy. I make protein smoothies with minimal sugar- just enough berries and banana with lots of greens and cabbage, and vanilla collagen protein powder and add creatine, ground flax seed with kombucha and walnut or almond milk and sometimes, coconut yogurt. Wild salmon and fish are very good. Supplements I have found to help me that I take twice a day (Life extension)- magnesium, Omega 3 vitamin. D, Lipoic Acid, Vitamin. B Complex, and now am taking a probiotic and some herbal supplements recommended by my natural doctor who does muscle testing. I was also in the habit of not drinking enough water so I increased my water intake. In 2020, I quit 2 of my most stressful jobs. I was very blessed to have a husband and family to help me. It was not easy but I could no longer function normally. I learned that STRESS was a HUGE factor. It was as if I was allergic to stress. So now, I still have chronic lower back pain that never really goes away and sometimes it is intense and other times it does not bother me too much. I still have numbness in my left foot. I have learned that alcohol worsens my condition so I have had to cut my daily glass of wine to special occasions only. Prayer, worship, and peace are the best medicine in my life and not allowing stress to get to me as well as being very mindful of what thoughts I was thinking in my head. I also have found that the luxury of a pool, is very helpful and very good PT. Since 2020, I have only had one other major attack. When I have these tremors and nerve attacks, they usually last about 6 months and then taper down a bit. I do still have tingling at night time depending on stress factors and time spent on the computer or eating unhealthily. I hope this is helpful information. Thanks for sharing some of the things that have helped you. I only have essential tremors, which, compared to the other types of neurological conditions, seem to be not as bad, but I do get internal tremors as well. My tremors are mostly activated by movement and maintaining a position, but since being diagnosed, I have noticed that stress also makes it worse. The literature I have read said that it is worse on your weaker side, and I have noticed my left side is worse, so I am trying to focus my strength training on my left side. The literature also said there is a link with anxiety. I know my brother would say his MS symptoms would be worse with stress and anxiety. So, being healthier in general has helped me. As if getting older wasn't enough. I know that for some conditions like MS, some doctors will start a patient on HRT therapy since menopause has been showm to make symptoms worse. But that just started and is still undergoing research. I am going to try the earthing/grounding. Just practicing mindfulness has helped. I think too much, and I am in a constant state of fix-it mode, which is not helpful 90% of the time. I had the tingling, too, but that was due to the chronic inflammation I started right after menopause in my feet and legs. I am still working on the inflammation, which has not been diagnosed, but it is not related to essential tremors or menopause (per the doctors). Walking and avoiding foods that cause inflammation, such as sugar and alcohol, has been the biggest help, and I no longer have the tingling. It really is true; you cannot get away with anything health-wise after 50!
