I know you’re scared and very worried that you may have a serious medical condition. You’re convinced this is lung cancer and that you’ll need surgery or cancer treatments and how much it will cost…
But you don’t know that any of this is true. Lung conditions and irritations come from many sources such as smoking, exposure to mold in homes or fungus from soil, to environmental toxins, asthma, tuberculosis and the list goes on…all of these can cause the symptoms that you’re experiencing. The odds of being 18 with lung cancer caused by smoking is low.

Asking strangers to speak with your mom about this condition won’t change the recommendation of seeking medical help. So you need to sit down and talk to your mom or is it your foster mom, about what is happening with your lungs. Maybe she’ll be able to help you come up with a plan to at least be seen by a doctor for a first appointment.

While I believe in the power of prayer, I also feel that God helps those who help themselves. And if you have a medical issue that is alarming you this much, the only way to get an answer is to get a medical opinion.
Before your appointment, write down the symptoms and when they first started and if they’ve worsened over time. You mentioned smoking. Were these tobacco products or do you vape? Are you exposed to mold? Those are questions a doctor will ask you.

As a mom myself, I would move mountains for my child. So have a heart to heart talk with your mom, let her know how terrified you are. Together you can come up with a plan of action and I expect she will make an appointment for you to be seen. Take her with you for moral support.
