Hi
Ouch.
I have an almost invisible scar lower neck. I prefer mine.
I used water and aloe vera on it only.
5 years old scar next month.
I also had a blue dye put in flowing to 1 hour when they started thyroidectomy.
I had full thyroidectomy, 12 rightside centre (2 affected) and dissection of right lymph node base.
Low Risk.
6-7 inch under ear!!!! Why?
Are you coping OK?
What diagnosed Thyroid cancer?
Mine was Papillary which is not aggressive as it grows 1mm a year.
The 2 8mm and 7mm Lymph node are calcified with 19mm x 9mm area surgeon not sure what it is then in November after 2nd CT scan and Pet Scan said that it could be my Thymus.
If cancer left in thymus it turns to Lymphoma.
But they would take the Lymph nodes out via neck wouldn't they?

Thank you for your reply tkj68. JOY. (Tuckie)

They took 41 lymph nodes, 5 had metastasis. Drain behind ear. Two nodules against jugular. They opened me up along right side for good visibility of nerves and arteries. Slight damage to jugular. They used a clip, no issues with bleeding. I attached photo of incision.

Hi
Should have had x between 2 8mm and 7mm.
So 2 Lynphed calcified x 8,, and 7mm.
Gas antone got calcification of lymphs and thymus? What haooened. I am 4 years post thyroidectomy.
Chances that you have papillary cancer is too high not to have full thyroidectomy. They thought only one side right but passing carotid arteroes scan around, one surgeon said a bit in left.

I have papillary as well but it got into lymph nodes. One node initially in center neck and 11 months later right side. Right neck disection removing 45 lymph nodes. Five nodes malignant in sections 2, 3 and 4. No variant has been given. Cancer center said I am not high, but higher risk for recurrence. Not sure what that means. They told me to ask my doctor in March at my appointment. I am going to Barnes for a second opinion and treatment options. I don't want to keep doing RAI and surgery. Those are the only options I have been given. Feeling frustrated.
