Starting Tymlos..

@josn

I recently started Tymlos after a fractured L5. I was originally diagnosed with osteoporosis in Feb 2021. I was 47 then, I am now 50 years of age. My spine T score is a -4.2. Prior to my fracture, I did a lot of walking & some jogging and prior to L5 fracture my hip scores had actually improved while my spine density had worsened. Now I am trying the Tymlos and praying that the compression fracture is healing and not worsening. Honestly I think I was initially in denial in regards to how bad my bones were - considering my age and activities, etc. I've always been rather athletic and now can't do the activities I use to love so. I was initially fearful of the Tymlos, and I am still working through the side effects as I have only been on it a little over a month. There use to be a well known Osteoporosis dr in my town - a Dr. Recknor; however he retired before my diagnosis. I am really fearful of my overall longterm prognosis given the early age of my diagnosis.

@josn
I haven't tried any prescription meds only chapter one bone health tabs.
I fell 4 years ago and crushed my L2 like a can and it was then I found out that my TScore was -3.7 I'm only 59 now I was terrified 😨
It hasn't gotten worse or better now. But me being a pharmacist technician for 13 years I've heard all the side effects on everything. So I decided to do this.
Praying you have a great reaction to the tylos.

@josn, I was on a half dose of Tymlos for 10 months, because I couldn't tolerate even one more Tymlos click. I did have improvement in my spine, but not my hips. I went to a new endocrinologist who recommended I change to Forteo. She said it doesn't have the vasomotor side effects of Tymlos. She was right, I am able to tolerate a full dose of Forteo. I am mentioning this in case you continue to have trouble with Tymlos.
