Hi Mark, I had my appointment with Dr. Lyons at Mayo Clinic and decided to use him as my surgeon. He wouldn't accept clearance from my cardiologist, so I'll have to return for tests prior to surgery, which I'm trying to schedule ASAP. Lyons thinks he can correct the issues in C3-C7 without fusing the vertebrae since I have osteoporosis which may interfere with hardware binding to bone.

@billsapp Congratulations on being a Mayo patient. I can't speak highly enough of my experience there. If you don't mind sharing, how did Dr. Lyons offer to correct your cervical spine issues? How did osteoporosis change what he can do for you?

Hi Bill,
It sounds like you'll be in good hands with the Mayo. I wish we had one of their clinics nearby. It's encouraging that the doctor thinks he can fix your problems without a long fusion. I would think recovery will be quicker and you'll be able to stay more active without being fused. Please keep us posted. Mark
