I was prescribed Mirtazapine last summer, I must say that I have a lot of difficulty adjusting to antidepressants except Amitriptyline which is an older medication. I was taken off this and prescribed Mirtazapine, the first week on it I began to have disturbing dreams, I then began having leg cramps along with restless legs. I began complaining to the pharmacist about my symptoms and he advised me to speak to my doctor. I was on this medication for about two months and I weaned myself off it, I would normally do so with the doctor’s approval but he kept telling me to give it time. I was given this medication because it’s in the same class of antidepressants that I was taking, I never had any problems with the other med I took but I truly had a bad time. Please realize that this was my experience and everyone is different so it’s not to say that you’re going to have side effects. If you want to learn about a new medication go online and you’ll get more information than you need, I have a habit of doing this and it can scare you away from taking it. If you ask other people who have taken it can also be confusing because you’re going to get a lot of mixed opinions.

Even with SSRI’s some cannot tolerate one medication but another medication in the family can be well tolerated and effective.
I found that with Statins. The first one my Doctor prescribed gave me some side effects and she switched me to Atorvastatin and I have had no side effects.
I would suggest rather than looking online that you rely on your Doctor for advice. If you read the side effects of any medication you probably will decide not to take it.
Good luck to you.
