Looking for Advice on Full Rotator Cuff Tear Recovery After TraumaInju

Hi everyone,
My mum was recently diagnosed with a full rotator cuff tear caused by a trauma-based incident. Unfortunately, her tear is irreparable, and she's been told it will likely degenerate over time. She's currently receiving tailored physiotherapy through the NHS, but the injury has significantly impacted her work and daily life.

We’re exploring options like superior capsular reconstruction, tendon transfers, or even reverse total shoulder replacement if necessary. She’s eager to regain as much function as possible and return to her job at the Job Centre, which is primarily desk-based but requires some activity.

If you’ve been through something similar:

What treatments worked best for you?
How long did it take to regain mobility and return to work?
Any tips for managing the emotional and physical challenges of recovery?

I’ve had the reverse shoulder replacement, torn supraspinatus tear, severe. Also other tears not so severe.
Surgery went well, no pain afterwards, remarkable. The surgeon said that most patients do not have pain afterwards.
1st of August was my surgery. I’m playing tennis at 4 months post op.
I have not gotten my strength built up yet to lift my arm to the top of my head.
I’m giving it another 2 months to see much more improvement in my range of motion.
I can’t lift my arm to serve in tennis but my serve now is underhanded.

I had rotatory cup surgery 1 year and 4 months ago. I did wait 3 months to have the surgery after my doctor told me I needed it due to a visit out of town that was already planned. My sugery was supposed to be one and a half hour long and ended up to be 3 hours long. The recovery was very painful. I did PT for 3 months. I still have stiffness in my shoulder. Most of the time it is tolerable. What makes it worse is if I overdue useing my arm at the gym or the worst pain I had was using clippers to cut down very thick branches on one of my trees. (sure cant do that anymore) I have had 2 cortisone shots since the surgery. I have learned that it is a life long journey and the most important thing is to keep up with PT reccomendations which was stretch and continue PT exercises daily. Not fun but thats what works.
