My son has a Oligodendroglioma grade II, IDH mutant tumor. He is 41 and was diagnosed 6 yes. ago. Resection 14 mths ago with radiation and chemotherapy by mouth followed. He has had over 80 seizures. No grand mal since the 33 minute one 3 days post op. His seizures now are focal with aura but lessened in the past months. He has been through so much but is back to work full time. He was told that his MRI looked really good with shrinkage of the remaining tumor(40%). Is it normal to have focal seizures at this point? Does aftereffects of chemotherapy cause them? He wants and needs a second opinion and new Neurologist. Any suggestions? Willing to travel, resides in Maryland.

@dianapro13, I can see you are very worried for your son. If you would like to seek a second opinion with Mayo Clinic experts, you can submit a request to any of the 3 major locations in AZ, FL or MN. Here's information to get started http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

It is rare that chemotherapy is the root cause of seizures, but it can happen. Read more here: https://www.cancer.org/cancer/managing-cancer/side-effects/seizures.html

It is hopeful that his tumor has shrunk. Has his medical team determined the sources of his seizures?
