Severe leg cramps with urinary incontinence
Hello I’m reaching out for help. I’ve been having severe leg cramp that usually happen in the early hours of the morning while sleeping. They are so severe that they always lead to urinary incontinence. I’m 56 and have several autoimmune disorders (Addison’s, hyperthyroidism and MS.) My MS has been in remission for at least 10 years and I don’t feel any ms signs. I take vitamin d prescription dose one time a week and meds for my thyroid and Addison’s. Every Dr. I’ve discuss this with multiple Doctors who just say use a cold compresss and I’m starting to feel helpless and they doesn’t truly understand the severe pain along with the horrible feelings you have the pain being so severe lasting 15-20 min and becoming incontinent. These leg cramps or whatever they are have been going on for the last 4 years. I work full time and feel sleep deprived and sad.
There was time about 6 months ago that my entire body was shaking and I went to several drs including a neuro which did conscious sedation due yo my body shaking to perform a mri brain and spine and I was told to get more exercise, even thou, I normally walk about 6-9 miles a day at work.
There has to be something that could help. I get labs taken monthly and see a Dr. monthly.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Barb

Barb, what type of work do you do? Have you ever fallen and hurt your neck or back?
Was your mri of your head? Your symptoms seem like it is neurological and possibly tied to your neck/cervical spine. I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease which caused myelopathy spinal cord compression/flattening. This causes neurological impact that can include bladder and legs. You may want to see an orthopedic spine specialist to rule out myelopathy/compression.
Hello
My MRI was of my head, neck and spine and I was sent to an orthopedic surgeon because initially they saw something abnormal on my spine. When following up after the MRI he told me I needed to exercise more.
I am an Environmental, health and safety manager within Aerospace. No falls or incidents.
Thank you for your ideas and comments.

Have you seen a neurologist for EMG nerve conduction studies of your upper and lower limbs and skin punch biopsy for small fiber neuropathy? Did you review the details of your MRIs to see what the radiologist noted in your spine that may be of concern? Do you have any bone spurs, disc bulges or herniation or stenosis noted? Any spinal cord compression or flattening/effacement?
